Rewriting US History
Major leftist agenda categories and specific examples
Deemphasize American heritage
Leftist insistence to place “Celebrate Freedom Week” principles in the standards introduction rather than as a student expectation in the body of the document, so that students will not be tested on these principles.
Counter David Barton and Peter Marshall expert input supporting America’s Christian heritage by utilizing politics of personal destruction.
Rejected proposal to add standard on “American Exceptionalism”.
Suggestion by 6th grade review panel to remove Christmas as a religious holiday.
Stated objective of Kindergarten review panel to “create global citizens”.
Refused to change “protests” to “non-violent protests” in citizenship section.
Create negative view of U. S. history
Extreme focus on social issues, little focus on American achievements.
Inclusion of “Hip Hop” music in Culture section, including its major sub-genre. Gangsta Rap, promotes the accelerating death spiral of our culture.
WWII generals Patton & Bradley included only after prolonged resistance from left
Refused to use the term “achieving the American Dream” in describing successful individuals
View history thru the multicultural prism of oppression and exploitation of minorities and women.
Refusal to consider longer term impact of Great Society and affirmative action: growth of the welfare state, reverse discrimination, government dependence versus personal responsibility, single parent households, inner city crime, work of Ward Connerly to end affirmative action, writings of Bill Cosby and Thomas Sowell.
Change term “U. S. expansionism” to “U.S. imperialism” in describing acquisitions of Hawaii, Philippines, Guam, Cuba, to create idea of exploitation of indigenous peoples.
Refusal to include mention of 12-20 million illegal immigrants on the “effects of changing demographic patterns resulting from immigration to the United States”
Resistance to broaden “forced repatriation of Mexican Americans” to the actual, much broader voluntary repatriation of all immigrants during the great depression
Refusal to add Supreme Court case Ricci v. DeStefano, in which black firemen scoring lower on advancement tests were promoted over whites and Hispanics who scored higher
Politicization of history
Great outcry from the left regarding the inclusion of conservatives Gingrich, Schlafly, and the Moral Majority without “balancing” leftists. No outcry for 13 leftist names and groups included at that time in civil rights topic. Gingrich, Schlafly, and Moral Majority ARE the balance
Refusal to add section on the Conservative resurgence of the 1980s and 1990s, even though it was formatted consistent with entries about the leftist Progressive and Civil Rights eras.
Evaluates the “leadership” of FDR, but only the “policies” of Ronald Reagan.
Refusal to add Venona papers, which proved communists had infiltrated U. S. government
Refusal to add Congressional votes on civil rights legislation, which revealed greater Republican support and bloc of Democrats in opposition
Refusal to add Ronald Reagan’s role in “restoring national confidence”
Refused to add “Evaluate efforts by globalist organizations to transition from U. S. sovereignty to global governance” in government section.
Refused to add “Evaluate the effect of environmentalist actions on citizens’ 5th Amendment property rights” in student expectation on environmentalism.
