A message from Heather Liggett
We need to gather a list of dynamic, passionate and informed speakers to register to speak in front of the Board in the upcoming meeting to be held January 13 – 15. It will be a day of public testimony. Having as many retired conservative educators willing to speak is key to our success but we want ALL speakers included….any ideas for names please reach out to them and email their name to me if they are willing. For the Jan. mtg. we need 100-150 speakers…. Interested parties need to email me so we can make sure to include you in the registration process.
We will be holding a rally outside the building in Jan. and we MUST have a large showing to let the board know how outraged Texans are about the declining standards. All available concerned members need to attend the rally or sit in on the public mtgs. Details will be forthcoming as the SBOE sets time/location for testimony.

Regular Ramparts readers will recognize Ken Mercer of our Texas State Board of Education. In this video Ken describes the the left wing assault on Texas history standards. Today he sent an email laying out the case.
Dear citizens of Texas,
I am currently in Austin and today the State Board of Education will meet and the battle to Re-Write History will begin. My campaign has prepared this video to educate Texans about the current situation we are facing. Please consider forwarding this on to your email list to help us spread the word about the statewide liberal attack on our History standards.
Ken Mercer is a good man and we cannot afford to lose him. He is running for Re-Election and needs our support to continue what appears to be an unrelenting fight.

Please keep me informed of opportunities to intervene in this process, as I did in 2002.

Thank you for your warning of our State Board of Education’s attempt to rewrite history and destroy the foundation of our free country. When I was a college student in Texas they were teaching that we should not encourage patriotism, and to promote global unity. That was about 40 years ago, and even as a young student I was intelligent enough to recognize that two thirds of the U.N. were dictatorships, and to have them as our government would mean a complete loss of our freedom. The only way to have a one world government is for the rest of the world to adopt our policies, and beliefs, but they don’t have our heritage. It should be at least 500 years before we get a one world government, and that is only after they adopt our constitution. Thanks for your time and your fight to keep our children free.
Sincerely,
Hugh Shotwell

Do we need to do Initiative A and B? Why would the Board make a final vote on January 5th as stated above when the hearing is on January 13-15?
December 3, 2009 at 2:54 pm |
Hi Carolyn–
You can do either Initiative A or B. Sending your email to sboehistory@yahoo.com (initiative B) will ensure all 15 board members see your email VS. initiative A that will go only to the elected member of your district. We asking that all emails be in by Jan. 5th PRIOR to the final vote taking place during the Jan. 13-15 meetings. Hope this clears up any confusion and please feel free to contact me if you have any more questions.

Thank you for posting this valuable information on As A Mom’s site. As a former educator, mom, grandmother, etc.,I have always said that if Americans were only aware of the indoctrination of their children, the public schools would cease to exist. In Texas, we are so fortunate to have oversight, however, even that seems to slip through the cracks. Social Studies today is no more than social engineering as is history, English and other humanities classes. How can someone help who is not able to go to Austin as this is such a vital issue? The ignorance in America is laid at the doors of the public schools and perhaps we are finally entering an age of enlightenment where light shines on curriculum finally. Although I am retired now, I still care very much about the material taught to my grandchildren and great grandchildren as that is the only way we can educate the next generations and save this republic.

I want education the way it is now. I wish teachers could pray in the classroom. Keep our present heritage the way it is.
