“Something wicked this way comes…”

August 31, 2009

Bryan Preston(hat tip Bryan Preston) The Democrat National Committee is coming to Austin in a couple of weeks to meet and announce that they plan to turn Texas blue. Hopefully while they’re here, they’ll also see what a state with a functioning economy looks like (hint: not blue, small government). We’re planning a Texas style sendoff with a simple message:  Hands off Texas

Astro-turfed and bussed in for ObamaCare

August 29, 2009 Austin, TX – What happened at the MoveOn.org staged political rally for health care reform inside the church.  Gosh – how does all that go together? – (hat tip Shannon and Dean)

UPDATE: PRESS RELEASE: Government takeover of health care has Constituents dogging Doggett; Liberals busing in supporters‏ and intimidating opposition

From: Sherry Ellexson

Timothy,

I was an eyewitness up close and personal to this situation. John and I were inside the Church; we were seated in the back row.  We did get video of the entire forum.  Carlene was sitting in the pew in front of us, as a matter of fact I had gotten up to tell her hello before the circus started.  During the time in the Church we were called Fascists, told to get out and other not so nice comments.  We had our Tea Party shirts on so we were verbally attacked. Toward the end of the forum when the young people came in with the signs and marched to the front of the church we saw Carlene get up but thought nothing of it.  John and I decided to leave at the same time.

When we reached the lobby we saw that the pastor was confronting and threatening Carlene.  He had his fists in her face and was shaking like a mad man!  I came up beside him, got in his face and said, “Don’t you dare touch her.” Then I said loudly, “Did you touch her?”  He was very angry and it did appear to me that he either struck her or tried to knock the signs out of her hand.  I put my arm on her shoulder, and at the same time thugs started attacking both of us.  They actually surrounded us.  They pushed and grabbed my arms and almost threw Carlene and me to the ground.  It was an amazing thing.

Our signs were all taken at the front door.  But because others came in with their signs, Carlene went out to retrieve hers.  However they would not allow let her back into the Sanctuary.  It was at that time that the Pastor became very angry.  I believe that someone at the church reported that she had hidden the signs under her seat.  What a bunch of liars.

In checking the pictures of the staff on the church site, I identified the Pastor.  Oh yes – Carlene’s antagonist was not just a Pastor; he was the Senior Pastor John McMullen of the First United Methodist Church.  Believe me, I was very close to his face; I will never forget his features or his fists or his out of control shaking.  The individuals that threw us out in my mind were really trying to harm us.  I am very angry with this and I believe that someone needs to investigate the dangerous tactics of the progressive left.  This was assault in my opinion.  They grabbed me and pulled on my arms and pushed me and they were doing the same thing to Carlene, I call that assault.

I fully intend to call the church, and write the Senior Pastor and call the Austin Statesman.  The behavior at this Church was totally out of control and probably illegal.  I believe that charges should be filed against the thugs, Doggett and the Church for allowing attack thugs to throw two women out, one barely 5′ and me 5’4.  Oh yep, we are dangerous!!  And it was not easy getting out of the church, the thugs surrounded us and people were crowded in the lobby and on the steps. Talk about a fire hazard.

Where are the politicians that will take a stand against this progressive assault tactic that we are beginning to see from the Democrat camp?  If this were any other Political Party holding this three-ring circus at this church, the tax status would already have been revoked.  I think we should all call the appropriate agency to investigate this incident.  Frankly, this event was nothing but a campaign rally; we could not ask questions, we could not interrupt and we were told that we would be ask to leave if we interrupted a speaker.  It was strictly Doggett in campaign mode, making fun of the tea party people and just typical Democrat garbage.

Carlene and I were interviewed but mine didn’t make it on the news, and Carlene’s interview after it all happened did not make the news either.

Rules for Radicals

August 31, 2009

Lesson Three – Managing Anxiety

RULE 2: “Never go outside the expertise of your people.”

AlinskyIt results in confusion, fear and retreat. Security is the most basic human urge and is therefore of primary concern in organizing and retaining people. This is the reason why radicals never address the issues and just spew talking points; they must avoid things of which they have no knowledge in order to feel secure. In their contempt for the opposition they assume that people cannot tell the difference between the truth and a lie; that by repeating a lie over and over again it will eventually be accepted as the truth. Trying to interview or debate them is nearly always an exercise in futility as they repeat the same old canards ad nauseum while interjecting personal attacks to make their opponent quit the debate.

The point of any debate with a radical should be for the bystanders and listeners, not to try to convince the radical. Keep telling the truth and let him who has ears hear.

RULE 3: “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.”Condi

“Many organizations which come under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address,” says Craig Miyamoto in his article Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals.

Alinsky advised his organizer to always search for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty of the opposition – in our case middle class small businesses and some corporations.

This is where the law is meant to protect us, or that failing the community can rally in support. But the radicals will make the most outrageous threats, even when there is little to no possibility of their making good on them, because they know RULE 9: “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Be prepared and don’t buy into the game.

RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Radicals keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new. (Attack, attack, attack from all sides, never giving the reeling organization a chance to rest, regroup, recover and re-strategize.)

Sounds good on paper doesn’t it? But the reality is that even radicals get bored, which bring us to

RULE 7: “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” To keep the radical hordes excited and involved, organizers have to constantly come up with new tactics. The uncultivated mind is easily bored and distracted; it lacks perseverance, the quality of character which is the ability to endure in time to pursue a fixed goal.

Alinsky is assuming

1)     That the organizer is an omnipotent genius

2)     That he is dealing with reactive people whom he can manipulate at will and keep on defense indefinitely

3)     His enemy is stupid, cannot figure him out or innovate on his own

4)     His enemy is cowardly

5)     His followers are loyal

But who are these people of either side are? The middle classes are either upright and virtuous or not, but it is their property that the organizer seeks to plunder in the name of social justice. The middle classes fight to maintain their lawfully earned property and God-given liberty. The radicals are basically the organized crime syndicate whose aim is to obtain these assets; they fight for profit and thus they are mercenaries.

Machiavelli had much to say about these fighters for hire:

Mercenaries and auxiliaries are useless and dangerous; and if one holds his state based on these arms, he will stand neither firm nor safe; for they are disunited, ambitious and without discipline, unfaithful, valiant before friends, cowardly before enemies; they have neither the fear of God nor fidelity to men, and destruction is deferred only so long as the attack is; for in peace one is robbed by them, and in war by the enemy. The fact is, they have no other attraction or reason for keeping the field than a trifle of stipend, which is not sufficient to make them willing to die for you. They are ready enough to be your soldiers whilst you do not make war, but if war comes they take themselves off or run from the foe; which I should have little trouble to prove, for the ruin of Italy has been caused by nothing else than by resting all her hopes for many years on mercenaries, and although they formerly made some display and appeared valiant amongst themselves, yet when the foreigners came they showed what they were.

Creating anxiety for the enemy while maintaining security for one’s own group is the essence of the organizer’s manipulative art. Alinsky advises the organizer to keep his people inside their comfort zone while drawing and pushing the enemy out of his. The fight is not at all meant to be a fair one.

But two can play that game. Forewarned is forearmed.

John Perazzo’s excellent essay on Saul Alinsky is here. And here are part one and two of this series.

Socialism is the new N-word?

August 30, 2009
This is just TOO GOOD not to post.

Norman Mattoon Thomas (1884 – 1968) a leading American socialist, pacifist, and six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America said this:

“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

For about half the country that day has arrived.

Sovereignty or Secession Rally

August 29, 2009

(UPDATED. Scroll down…)

GetAttachment[1]by Hesperian Sibyl

We stood together in the morning sun. Around a thousand Texans – men, women, children of all ages and ethnicities – had come to send a message to our representatives: Abide by the US Constitution and its enumerated powers or the contract is no more. Not only Texas but many other states are sending this message to Washington. Among the several speakers were Gerry Donaldson and Debra Medina, and this quote from Sam Houston remained riveted in my memory:

“Texas has yet to learn submission to any oppression, come from what source it may.”

GetAttachment[3]

GetAttachment[4]A gentleman stood in front of me in the crowd whose tee shirt had a quote from Davy Crockett which he had made to the legislature: “You all may go to hell, and I will go to Texas.” Daniel Boone had done the same in his time. Being fed up with politics in Washington he moved from Kentucky to Missouri,  preferring to take his chances with the grizzly bears and wild tribes of the frontier than the duplicitous federal politicians.

But now there is nowhere else to go. So the people of Texas are standing up to say NO MORE to Washington’s incremental encroachments upon their liberty.

SoS RallyStay tuned for further updates on the rallies of the day.

Update: A video of Tracey, the lady who gained attention because she was the one asking Sheila Jackson Lee a question when the latter found it more important to answer her cell phone. (hat tip Eddie Lee)

Update: Here’s a video clip of the later MoveOn.org astro turf bussed in from Dallas etc. rally FOR Obama’s ‘healthcare reform’ where Doggett was inside. (hat tip Mark S.) I don’t really see the point of Doggett appearing with a horde of people who are not his constituents but nevermind that. Notice the character and behavior of the fellows from the two opposing sides. Can you guess which is which?

Eyewitness report: Estimated 1,200 people  inside the church (5-10% against ObamaCare not appaluding the speakers) , 400 people outside.  Here is a first person report:

“Yesterday was a very long and hot day.  First the rally at the Capitol, our numbers were high in the beginning [while Gerry Donaldson and Debra Medina spoke] and people started leaving right after Kilgore spoke.  What an idiot!! I guess he is running for Governor.  His statement that sent people running was, “we hate the USA Government”,  (though I can agree that I hate the greed and corruption) and “We hate the United States of America, and the United States of America  Flag and that flag above the Texas Flag needs to come down and it will come down!”   For those of you who know me, yes I did confront Kilgore when he was coming down off the stairs.  He reconfirmed to me that he did say what I thought he said.  I told him that he needs to be careful with the WE statements, since the majority of us love the USA, and the Flag.  I agree with Sovereignty, and we need to do it now.  However, I also told Kilgore that most of the groups are fighting for the Constitution and our God given and legal rights, and he is way out of line downing the United States of America.  Oh hey, I also told him he wouldn’t be getting my vote.  I believe that sucesssion is the last, last, last, last resort and there are many steps to be taken before this ever happens.  If our Government continues to go down this scary road to Marxism, Socialism and even Communism,  America will step up to the plate…We happen to love our Freedom, Are you listening Obama?
Then we went to the Methodist Church.  John and I did get into the Church and recorded the whole thing.  It was definitely a stacked deck in favor of Doggett.  I understand that 2-3 bus loads of Acorn and MoveOn people were bused in from Dallas.  Isn’t it interesting that they can’t get the numbers that they need unless they go elsewhere in the State.  People were questioning members of the group who actually told us where they live.  Yep, you are right they were not from Doggett’s  District. It was a speaking Forum, no questions and silence please.  Anyone who interrupts a speaker will be asked to leave.  Gosh, does this remind us of something?
And yet John and I were the ones called fascists a couple of times by the people in front of us and then John was told by the same man to get his fat ass out of there.  Oh yes, we can now confirm that Move On and Acorn and AFL-CIO People are evil and probably possessed.  These are the foot soldiers that Obama is talking about plus Black Panthers and numerous others.

Congratulations to our member Carlene for standing up for her rights.  When we went into the Church they would not allow signs, so everyone gave up their signs, including Carlene.  Well…at the end of the program, a bunch of young people came in and you guessed it again they were carrying signs.  So, Carlene gets up and goes out to the lobby area to collect her signs and was trying to get back into the building.  John and I had decided to leave as the program was ending.  We got to the lobby just as Carlene was being confronted by I was told the Pastor.  He had his fists up and was shaking his fists in her face.  I am not certain if he touched her or not.  She told him, you just let all of those people in with signs, I want to take mine in too.  I really thought that he was going to strike her, I put my arm around her and we went outside.

Given the fact that they really believed that they could scare us, but couldn’t, given the fact that they had to bus people in from what we could tell was not only Dallas but other cities as well.  We still stood our ground.  You could not believe how many police officers that were in the church and at the rally.  Oh yeh and there was an Acorn lady (not exactly a lady) with a Bull Horn that was trying to scare us, but could not.  We were proud of everyone there.

Thank you for coming out and standing up.  We must continue to press on do not waiver, fight with everything you have and do not fear, and ask the tough questions that Glenn Beck has taught us to ask.  Believe it or not Doggett and many others are sending up smoke screens because they now understand where most Americans stand on the stupid Obama health care.  We got them on the run.
For the prayer warriors that are out there continuing to lift us up in prayer, we are grateful for each one of you.  Keep it up please.  Things are heating up.”

Liberal Fallout Zones

August 29, 2009

What direction are the liberal (socialist) policies of welfare for the poor and needy headed? We need only look at the places where they have already been tried – equal poverty and misery for all. Anita Moncrief spells it out in her piece today on Hot Air.

“As the health care debate rages on across the country, Americans are waking to the realization that the same people who tested those social programs on minorities and the poor are now poised to unleash their new “test to the system” on a national scale.”

slumIn Northeast Washington, DC off Minnesota Avenue a neighborhood sits tucked between the entrance ramps to 295 North and South. The four story buildings line a one way street that loops around in a circle. Residents of these buildings call the complex “Paradise.” But in reality, this area is another liberal fallout zone. Instead of Nuclear disaster areas like Chernobyl in Russia, liberals in America have created desolate areas where the harm from their bombs (social programs) manifests itself as crime, hopelessness and generational poverty.
