More Hope and Change

December 4, 2009 by Ramparts360.com

On November 11, David N. Farr, Chairman, CEO and President of Emerson Electric Co., announced at the Baird 2009 Industrial Conference in Chicago that President Obama has succeeded in chasing his multi-billion dollar industry right out of the U.S.A. Why? Onerous regulation, high taxes, and the over $1 trillion Obama debt should be reason enough for any business to consider shutting down U.S. facilities and seeking greener pastures overseas says Farr.

The federal government is “doing everything in [its] manpower [and] capability to destroy U.S. manufacturing,” says David Farr, chairman and CEO of Emerson Electric Co., in a presentation at the Baird 2009 Industrial Conference in Chicago Ill., on Nov. 11. In comments reported by Bloomberg, Farr added that companies will continue adding jobs in China and India because they are “places where people want the products and where the governments welcome you to actually do something. I am not going to hire anybody in the United States. I’m moving. They are doing everything possible to destroy jobs.”

During his slide show on the state of Emerson’s business, Farr noted that the “unprecedented job loss experienced in this recession will result in a much slower U.S. recovery” and the federal government is making matters worse. The slide reports that the job loss this time is by many magnitudes worse than previous recessions. Noted are job losses from several recessions: 1980 with 1 million jobs lost; 1982 with 2.8 million; 1990 with 1.5 million; 2001 with 2.7 million. Finally Farr notes that we’ve seen a whopping 7.3 million jobs lost thus far (and climbing) in this 2008-2009-2010 recession.

And the culprit? Obama’s government interference. Farr’s presentation noted the following:

Our Government at Work to Help the U.S. Economy Grow:

  • $1.41T Deficit 10% of GDP
  • $12T of Government Debt Going to $20+T in 10 yrs
  • Print more money – “Quantitative Easing”
  • Non-Targeted $800B Stimulus
  • Wall Street & Car Bailouts
  • Cap & Tax Legislation?
  • Government Healthcare takeover: $1+T
  • Taxes and Regulations (increasing)
  • Lack of U.S. $ Support

Emerson reported that sales for the 2009 fiscal year fell to $21 billion, down from $25 billion in 2008. An operating profit of $3.2 billion was earned in 2009.

Another key to Emerson’s decision to continue its overseas development is the rapid growth of its emerging markets. 2009 sales to emerging markets rose at a quick pace reaching $6.7 billion and is projected to reach $12 billion by 2014.

Between 1999 and 2009 “73 percent of growth is from emerging markets!” Farr exclaims. “More than 60 percent of our growth is expected to come from emerging markets over the next five years so Emerson will continue to invest in these key markets.”

Obama’s government with its discouraging interference in the market and the deleterious effects that has had on the national business climate all tends to make foreign shores seem very attractive for American business. At a time when the U.S. is losing almost as many jobs as the last four recessions combined Obama is making the business climate much worse with his policies. But, this shouldn’t surprise anyone. Barack Obama is a good ol’ Illinois pol, after all. And Illinois ranks among the worst business climates in the country.

Part I: Keynesian Economics Does Not Work

by Dan Mitchell   The White House recently began claiming that the “Recovery Act” had “created or saved” 640,000-plus jobs. This was a political mistake, since the “jobs saved” measure allows for creative accounting. But the White House also erred by providing (supposed) details, making it very easy for reporters to do a bit of fact checking, which has generated a spate of stories showing that the White House’s numbers are wrong, even using make-believe methodology. The Washington Examiner has put together a very useful interactive map which links to many of the news reports debunking the Administration’s fraudulent numbers.

With the White House now talking about a second stimulus (though it appears they will call it a jobs bill), it’s time to remind ourselves with a three-part series that government spending is not stimulus. Part I is this video debunking Keynesian economics.

Audit the Fed – take *ACTION*

DeMint Blocks Bernanke for Vote on Audit the Fed‏
December 3, 2009

Dear Patriots,

C4L staffers have been working very closely with Senator Jim DeMint’s office in recent days to advance Audit the Fed (S. 604) in the Senate.

Just a little while ago, it was announced that Senator DeMint, who is the lead Senate cosponsor of Audit the Fed, has put a “hold” on Bernanke’s confirmation for a second term as Federal Reserve chairman until S. 604 receives an up or down vote on the Senate floor.

Keep reading for more details on how your immediate action could help make this vote possible.

While Ben Bernanke was handed a few softball questions from establishment politicians during today’s Senate Banking Committee hearing on his nomination, he also faced serious grilling from senators who are tired of his evasive answers and secretive practices.

DeMint is joined by Senator Jim Bunning and S. 604 sponsor Senator Bernie Sanders in pledging to block action on Bernanke’s reconfirmation.

Timmy and Ben

According to DeMint, “Mr. Bernanke has been one of the chief proponents of the Fed’s easy money policy that created the current financial crisis. He ignored asset bubbles, dismissed concerns about the weakness of the dollar, and helped encourage the credit mania that led to the financial panic. Even worse, Mr. Bernanke has refused to accept any responsibility for his role in these actions prior to financial crisis.

Read the rest of his press release here.

Ultimately, Bernanke’s reconfirmation is irrelevant to the main issue, which is bringing real transparency to the Fed.

It doesn’t matter who’s at the wheel of the car; they will still be driving a clunker.

Contact your senators today and tell them that before they consider either reconfirming Ben Bernanke or appointing a new Chairman, they must deliver the answers the American people want and deserve by giving Audit the Fed a standalone, up or down vote on the Senate floor.

And if you live in Kentucky, urge Senator Bunning to take an even stronger stand by cosponsoring S. 604.

You and I have come so far this past year in our battle to Audit the Fed.  Now, we have an excellent chance of seeing S. 604 debated on the Senate floor.  But we must take immediate action to turn this chance into a reality!

Contact your senators right away!

In Liberty,

John Tate

President

P.S. Audit the Fed has gotten further than ever before, but we need your help to achieve standalone votes in the House and Senate as we seek to turn it into law!  Click here to contribute to C4L today as we work to finish this fight!

A friend of mine sent me the picture below with no caption along with this note and asked me to confirm if it were true.

Randy Royer, from Dothan, Tennessee, is a shooting victim at Ft. Hood.

A man in Dothan had his television on in his office when the news of the military base shootings came on.  One of his employees had a husband who was stationed at Ft. Hood .  He called the employee into his office and the minute he told her what was going on, she received a text message from her husband saying, “I’m okay.”

The cell phone started ringing right after that. It was an ER nurse. She said, “I’m the one who just sent you a text, not your husband.”  She thought the message would be comforting, but she immediately knew she had to let the wife know what was going on..  She said, “I am sorry, but your husband has been shot 4 times and he is in surgery.”

The wife left Dothan and drove all night. Miraculously, here is the photo that was taken today in the hospital room. He is awake and will recover. His wife, who lives in Dothan, made it to Ft. Hood about the time he was waking up.

Thought I’d share this great outcome. No wonder there was no press release.

I searched on yahoo! for pictures of Randy Royer. No results. Searched for Bush visits Ft. Hood shooting victims. No picture results. News items mentioning a visit from Bush had Obama’s name, too; those not mentioning Obama’s name had been taken down. Finally I found one with his image and verified the man in the picture she sent me as Royer. I wrote her back:

Yes, he was injured and Bush did visit him. Many of the local news stories seem to be scrubbed off the internet. This one hasn’t, maybe because Obama is mentioned in the same breath as Bush.

I later found this one, again mentioning Bush and Obama in the headline. But the fact is that the shooting occurred on Thursday Nov 6. On Friday morning Nov 7 President Bush and his wife Laura were visiting the troops – without the press. Obama and his wife didn’t go until the NEXT TUESDAY when he was scheduled to give the memorial speech. I seem to remember the First Couple went to Camp David that weekend to unwind. I also seem to remember that when Obama was told he couldn’t bring the press photogs to the base in Germany he changed his mind and went to play basketball instead.

Copenhagen for the Olympic bid? “No problem.” Texas for injured troop terror victims? “Uh, … yeah, I’m due over there sometime next week. Sure.”

Not a photo op!!! The morning after the shooting. A lot of us miss ya Dubya.

20 Texas Democrats desert Party, go Republican

15 THIS YEAR, 5 MORE YESTERDAY DESERT PARTY WHICH HAS DESERTED AMERICA

by John Charlton, The Post and Email  (hat tip Redneck Stan)

New GOP member

(Dec. 2, 2009) — The Democratic National Party has a problem with its name and with its loyalty, and as a consequence members of the party are deserting it, in Texas at least.

The GOP of Texas announced yesterday that 5 more officials in Upshurt Country switched from Democrat to Republican party affiliation.

Their press release read as follows:

We’re pleased to annouce that several more Democratic officeholders have decided to switch parties and become Republicans.  Five elected Democrats in Upshur County – County Judge Dean Fowler, Sheriff Anthony Betterton, District Clerk Carolyn Bullock Parrot, Constable Jason Weeks, and Justice of the Peace Lyle Potter – all announced today that they are now Republicans and will seek re-election as such.  They gave various reasons for their decisions to switch, but it all boils down to one simple fact: The Democratic Party has become too liberal and too statist for Texas voters.  The Democratic Party’s values are out of the Texas mainstream.  The Democratic Party is too beholden to special interests, from MoveOn’s far left agenda to Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and the Washington Democrats’ drive to have the federal government take over more and more of what was once the private sector, while they drive up the national debt to unsustainable levels and continue to raise our taxes.

Scores of Democrats across Texas like the five who have switched parties today are not so much leaving their party.  Their party, its leadership in Washington and its leadership here in Texas, has left them.  We’re pleased to continue growing the Texas GOP by attracting those who share our conservative values of limited government, strong national defense and robust economic growth via the free market to join us.

Eric Dondero of Libertarian Republican Blog reported at 4:50 PM yesterday, that 15 others officials in the state have already made the same switch.

Commentary

by Sibyl West

New GOP member?

While several Texans on Facebook were rejoicing, I was rubbing my chin. A truly wise man is suspicious of every seeming advantage. The focus of our desire always narrows the scope of our vision.

Then one of my politically savvy friends wrote to me:

Here in Mississippi, we had five Democrats turn Republcian, and come to find out they are up for re-election next year.

Also in my district, a DA who is Democrat has ask the County Republican party to endorse him as a Republican cand. for the upcoming election in 2010… I ask if he supports the Republican platform..and all I got was some of the guys wanting to tell me they have known him for years..

So I just thought what does that mean??? Needless to say I will not be supporting him..”

Actions speak louder than words. And actions in this context mean voting record and contributions. Which brings me to something Ken Mercer, elected member of the Texas SBOE told me during our interview in early November:

“People have already asked me,” said Ken, “‘You are a true conservative and you’re doing everything on the Republican platform.  Why do you have a Republican opponent?’

“Which I think is a great question but I will only quote what the Express News said. My Republican opponent, Tim Tuggey, is described as a ‘lawyer lobbyist’ who ‘has given to some Democrats.’

“Most Republican conservatives strongly believe that a lawyer lobbyist should NEVER run for office.  Period.

“I’m surprised the paper went that far. And it described me as ‘the conservative in the race’ – even though they are supporting my opponent.

“And according to the Federal Ethics Commission, lawyer-lobbyist Tuggey has given as much as $40,000 to Democrats, but he will run as a Republican.”

When that happens, Ken says, “Never mind your party affiliation. You kind of wonder which side are you really on?” Conservative primary voters deserve to know the answer.

Uhh…YEAH!

Conclusion

This is unbelievable. The story on the web makes it all sound so nonchalant.  Phone call delays Houston-bound AirTran flight.

Then I got this email from my good friend Tedd Petruna, a diver at the NBL facility at NASA who I used to work with. He happened to be on this same flight. In my opinion, the muslims are all getting very brave now, since they have one of their own in the White House. Read Tedd’s story below. Can you imagine, our own news media are so politically correct now that they are afraid to report that these were all muslims. Unbelievable! Thank God for people like Tedd Petruna.

One week ago, I went to Ohio on business and to see my father. On Tuesday, November 17, I returned home. If you read the papers, you may have seen a blurb where an AirTran flight was cancelled from Atlanta to Houston due to a man who refused to get off of his cell phone before takeoff.  It was on Fox.

That was NOT what happened!

I was in first class coming home. Eleven muslim men got on the plane in full attire. Two sat in first class and the rest peppered themselves throughout the plane all the way to the back.  As the plane taxied to the runway, the stewardesses gave the safety spiel we are all so familiar with. At that time, one of the men got on his cell and called one of his companions in the back and proceeded to talk on the phone in Arabic very loudly and very aggressively. This took the first stewardess out of the picture for she repeatedly told the man that cell phones were not permitted at the time. He ignored her as if she wasn’t there.

The second man who answered the phone did the same and this took out the second stewardess.  In the back of the plane at this time, 2 younger muslims, one in the back aisle, and one in front of him, window, began to show footage of a porno they had taped the night before, and were very loud about it.  Now, they are only permitted to do this prior to Jihad.  If a Muslim man goes into a strip club, he has to view the woman via mirror with his back to her (don’t ask me, I don’t make the rules, but I’ve studied). The third stewardess informed them that they were not to have electronic devices on at this time. To which one of the men said, “Shut up, infidel dog!” She went to take the camcorder and he began to scream in her face in Arabic.

At that exact moment, all 11 of them got up and started to walk to the cabin. This is where I had had enough! I got up and started to the back where I heard a voice behind me from another Texan twice my size say, “I got your back.” I grabbed the man who had been on the phone by the arm and said, “you WILL go sit down or you Will be thrown from this plane!” As I led him around me to take his seat, the fellow Texan grabbed him by the back of his neck and his waist and headed out with him. I then grabbed the second man and said, “You WILL do the same!” He protested but adrenaline was flowing now and he was going to go. As I escorted him forward, the plane doors open and 3 TSA agents and 4 police officers entered. Me and my new Texan friend were told to cease and desist for they had this under control. I was happy to oblige actually.

There was some commotion in the back, but within moments, all 11 were escorted off the plane. They then unloaded their luggage.

We talked about the occurrence and were in disbelief that it had happened, when suddenly, the door opened again and on walked all eleven!!  Stone faced, eyes front and robotic (the only way I can describe it). The stewardess from the back had been in tears and when she saw this, she was having NONE of it! Being that I was up front, I heard and saw the whole ordeal. She told the TSA agent there was NO WAY she was staying on the plane with these men. The agent told her they had searched them and were going to go through their luggage with a fine tooth comb and that they were allowed to proceed to Houston. The captain and co-captain came out and told the agent, “we and our crew will not fly this plane!” After a word or two, the entire crew, luggage in tow, left the plane. Five minutes later, the cabin door opened again and a whole new crew walked on.

Again, this is where I had had enough!! I got up and asked, “What the hell is going on?” I was told to take my seat. They were sorry for the delay and I would be home shortly. I said, “I’m getting off this plane.” The stewardess sternly told me that she could not allow me to get off.

Now I’m mad! I said, “I am a grown man who bought this ticket, whose time is mine with a family at home and I am going through that door, or I’m going through that door with you under my arm!!  But I am going through that door!!” And I heard a voice behind me say, “So am I.” Then everyone behind us started to get up and say the same. Within 2 minutes, I was walking off that plane where I was met with more agents who asked me to write a statement. I had 5 hours to kill at this point so why the hell not. Due to the amount of people who got off that flight, it was cancelled. I was supposed to be in Houston at 6pm. I got here at 12:30am.

Look up the date. Flight 297, Atlanta to Houston.

If this wasn’t a dry run, I don’t know what one is. They wanted to see how TSA would handle it, how the crew would handle it, and how the passengers would handle it.

I’m telling this to you because I want you to know. The threat is real. I saw it with my own eyes.

Tedd Petruna
